Walking the Talk

Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted
— Matthew 5:4

The next time grief or sadness rises in you, resist the urge to fix or dismiss it.

Instead, create space: sit quietly, breathe, and speak honestly with God about what you're feeling. Tears are sacred work - they're how your heart releases what it's been carrying. Notice how Divine comfort meets you in that vulnerable place; it's already there, waiting for your permission to enter.

When someone else is mourning, practice the ministry of presence.

Sit with them. Listen without offering solutions. Ask simply: "What do you need right now?" Sometimes the most powerful comfort you can offer is bearing witness to them and their experience - showing them they don't have to carry it alone, that you're there with love, without judgment or expectation. This is how we become conduits of Divine comfort for each other.
